Romance Scam (Pig Butchering)
Scammers build fake romantic relationships over weeks or months, then introduce a "can't-miss" investment opportunity. Victims lose both love and money — often their entire life savings.
Task / Employment Scam
Fake jobs offering easy money for simple tasks via WhatsApp or Telegram. After small payments build trust, victims must "invest" to unlock higher-paying tasks — then get blocked.
Impersonation Scam
Fake cops, IRS agents, or bank officers claim you're in trouble. They demand money, gift cards, or crypto to "resolve" the issue. Real government agencies never call demanding payment.
Fake Investment Platform
Professional-looking websites show huge returns. All numbers are fake. Withdrawals require endless fees — then the site vanishes. The FBI IC3 tracks billions lost to these scams annually.
Phishing emails often look legitimate — but one wrong click can cost you everything.
Tech Support Scam
Pop-ups or calls claiming your computer is infected. Scammers request remote access, then "find" problems and demand payment for fake fixes. Microsoft and Apple will never call you out of the blue.
Fake Delivery / Courier Scam
Texts claiming a package couldn't be delivered. The link leads to a fake website that steals your credit card info for a small "redelivery fee." USPS, UPS, and FedEx never send unsolicited texts with links.
Loan / Debt Relief Scam
"Guaranteed loan" or "debt forgiveness" offers. Victims pay upfront fees — then never receive the loan or service. The CFPB warns that legitimate lenders never ask for fees before approval.
Ticket / Gift Card Scam
Fake event tickets or discounted gift cards sold on social media. Payment is sent, but tickets/cards never arrive. Scammers often demand payment via Zelle, Cash App, or crypto.
